I'm an Emmy award-winning independent journalist and producer based in Oakland, California. I was recently named a 2015 MediaMaker Fellow at BAVC to direct and produce an animated documentary film about the crystal meth epidemic in Hawaii. I'm also Series Producer for VICE's illustrated documentary series, Correspondent Confidential. For six years I led multimedia projects at the Center for Investigative Reporting. My specialty is narrative multimedia storytelling and exploring ways to use digital media tools—including video, audio, photography, animation, and interactive graphics—to push the boundaries of storytelling on the Web. Before I got into multimedia I was a magazine editor, newspaper reporter, and video journalist. I completed a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley in 2005.
