It’s easy to shake our heads at blatant racism even as we ignore the impact of our personal choices on the shape and color of our society.

I'm an Emmy award-winning independent journalist and filmmaker born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii. I worked in journalism for more than a decade in the SF Bay Area, and I'm now based in Haiku, Maui. I recently directed and produced projects for ProPublica, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and VICE—including a six-episode illustrated documentary series for VICE News called Correspondent Confidential. For six years I led multimedia projects at the Center for Investigative Reporting as Senior Multimedia Producer.
